RUSSIAN JOURNAL OF EARTH SCIENCES, VOL. 19, ES5006, doi:10.2205/2019ES000677, 2019 Figure 2. Schematic view of the subduction zone under Kamchatka. On the surface position of Tolbachik volcano is labeled. Under Central Kamchatka depression (CKD) Crust–Mantle transition by the seismic data is unclear [Levin et al., 2014]. It can be interpreted as a manifestation of the densification processes (granulite and probably eclogitic stages of metamorphism) of the thickened crust in the zone of Kronotsky paleo-arc accretion (similar to the interpretation for Izu-Bonin arc crust in [Tatsumi et al., 2008]). Position of the subduction fluid flux melting and of the partially carbonatized zones (light purple) are shown. Copyright 2019 by the Geophysical Center RAS.
