Note: The samples taken from the depth and the surface (four gneisses and four amphibolites) exhibit
identical mineral (Figure 1) and chemical composition and the mineral density. Four core samples
represent typical lithologies of the Archean basement (K11345, K8933 - amphibolites; K9002,
K8658- gneisses) of the borehole SG-3. The sample numbers indicate the depth of sample
recovery in meters. Four samples (pl365, pl356 - amphibolites; pl363, pl358 - gneisses) from
surface outcrops stand for the Archean basement. They were selected from the Mustantunturi site
at a distance of 45 km northeast of the borehole because of similarities of geological structures.
